Qiddiya Entertainment City Project

Qiddiyah Infrastructure Monitoring and Data Management System

Client:  IQiddiyah Investment Company (QIC)

Project Location:Qiddiyah, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Scope: Infrastructure Monitoring, Environmental Impact Monitoring, and Data Collection Systems

Dustin & Partners was engaged by Qiddiyah Investment Company (QIC) to provide advanced infrastructure monitoring solutions for the Qiddiyah project, a massive entertainment, sports, and cultural development outside Riyadh. As one of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 mega-projects, Qiddiyah required precise and reliable instrumentation to ensure the safe construction and long-term monitoring of its facilities, as well as to minimize its environmental footprint.

Geotechnical Monitoring: We installed inclinometer systems, piezometers, and settlement gauges to track ground movement, water table fluctuations, and potential subsidence in areas where large structures were being erected. This data was critical in ensuring that the site remained stable during construction, particularly given the varying topography of the Qiddiyah site.

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM): As part of the long-term operational plan, we deployed a network of strain gauges, displacement sensors, and load cells across key facilities, including the entertainment venues, stadiums, and transport infrastructure. These sensors provided real-time insights into the performance of the structures under different loads and conditions, ensuring long-term durability and safety.

Vibration and Noise Monitoring: Given the scale of construction and the proximity to sensitive ecological zones, vibration and noise levels were a significant concern. We installed monitoring equipment to track and analyze the impact of construction activities on surrounding areas, ensuring that vibration-sensitive operations were closely controlled and that noise levels stayed within regulatory limits.

Environmental Monitoring: As sustainability was a priority for the Qiddiyah project, we implemented environmental monitoring systems that tracked air quality, water quality, and wildlife habitats across the development zone. Data from these systems helped Qiddiyah Investment Company manage its environmental impact and stay in compliance with national and international environmental regulations.

Smart Traffic and Transportation Monitoring: To support the development’s transportation infrastructure, we implemented smart traffic sensors that monitored vehicle flow and road conditions in real time. These systems helped optimize traffic management within the site, ensuring smooth transport for visitors and reducing congestion during peak times.

Data Collection and Management: Our data platform aggregated real-time inputs from thousands of sensors across the development site. This system provided comprehensive dashboards and reporting tools for QIC’s engineers and planners, allowing them to make data-driven decisions during both construction and operational phases. The platform also featured predictive maintenance capabilities, ensuring early identification of potential structural or environmental issues.

Weather and Climate Monitoring: To ensure optimal planning for construction and visitor safety, we installed advanced weather stations and climate monitoring systems throughout the Qiddiyah site. These systems provided real-time data on temperature, humidity, wind speed, and precipitation, helping to mitigate risks associated with extreme weather conditions in the region.

Post-construction Monitoring and Maintenance: After the construction phases were completed, Dustin & Partners continued to provide monitoring and maintenance services to ensure the infrastructure’s long-term performance. We generated regular performance reports and worked closely with Qiddiyah’s operational teams to ensure the facilities were always in top condition.
